Song structure assignment
When working on this assignment, I decided to use the 34 point song checklist for my composition. The ten that I used were "Does my song have an overall feel to it? Have I loosely figured out what instruments I will be using? Does my song have a relevant title? Does my song intro build excitement? Would I listen to my song? Does my outro leave the listener wanting more? Are my influences apparent? Does my song do something interesting that fits outside the genre I was working in? Is my song long enough and if I heard my song on the radio, is there something that would draw my ear in instantly?" That said, using these checkpoints helped me have an idea based on what I wanted to do. I decided to create a chill-like song, and it was out of my range since I like making pop songs. The instruments I used were also different, and it helped create the right feeling I wanted for this song. With that being mentioned, The title corresponds well with the vibe of the song. Plus, it also helps the audience have an Idea based on what the song might be about. Another thing to mention is the structure of the song. In the beginning, the layout is common. However, at the end of the second chorus, it immediately goes to the chorus instead of the pre-chorus. Also, instead of having a bridge, the chorus is repeated again. Therefore, I think this makes this song unique since it does not follow a traditional layout of a song. Another thing to mention is the outro of the song. It gives the audience a feeling as if they were on the beach. I feel like this would make the audience want to hear more. So, this assignment is fun, and it also let me have an understanding based on what I wanted to do thanks to the chart. This helped me become more effective when making or writing music.
