DAW Assignment

Based on this assignment, I had to create a musical piece by only using loops that are included in the software I am using. I used Garage band for this assignment.
The loops I decided to use were Scarlet Synth, Modern Disco Drum kit, Analog Mellow Lead Keyboard, Wandering Voices Pad, Crackling lead keyboard, Sweet Lead Keyboard, and Cyber Sweet Riser. The reason why I choose these is that they all sound appropriate when they are all put together since they give off an atmosphere-like vibe. However, some of these loops were not in the software and what I did instead was to pick the instruments I wanted and let the software create a rhythm-based on what instrument I picked. That said, The way how I structured the song was to first use Scarlet as the introduction for the song. I used four different chords so that it can create a melody. From there, I added the disco and analog mellow lead so it can start having a rhythm and tone for the song. To transition to the next part of the song, I added wandering voices and a cyber sweet riser so that it can bring suspension. From there I added the crackling and sweet lead only so it can have a feeling like if it was a chorus. From there, I added the same instruments that I used. However, for the next part of it, I made the crackling and sweet lead change rhythm as well as the disco drum kit. To end the song, I went back to the original rhythm and instruments. I took off an instrument for each measure until I had the outro with only the scarlet and wandering voices.
With creating a song just by using loops, it gives me thoughts about how music is created. I feel like it's a form of creativity but not at its full potential because after all, you still have the freedom of how the loops will sound but the loops that you select are not original. That said when I used these loops, I was influenced based on what the software gave and it did not feel like it was not fully original since I was creating a song based on what the software gave me. I feel like this would be annoying throughout time since I would feel like I am always forced and influenced by the software. That said, this has been interesting creating this song just by using loops. Although it was kinda difficult to sweet what loops compliment with each other, it was still fun to do since it challenged me to think outside the box.
