Remix assignment

Based on this assignment, I had to remix a song from another student in the class. That said, the instruments I decided to choose were scattered chords (MIDI keyboard), Audio recorder (Remix), Synthetic bass (loop), modern 808 (MIDI), synthetic bass (loop), angel ballet piano (loop), blue hour keys (loop), sentimental journey keys (loop), and ocean waves (sound effects).

With that being mentioned, certain effects I used were echo and reverb since some of these loops or instruments sounded too bland and they needed a dimension so they can sound realistic. During the process of creating a remix, it was difficult to create something using the remix. I decided to make it the main focal point of the song since it has a good beat and bass to it. I also added different instruments that complimented well with the remix. However, as the song progresses, the instruments get more interesting since they provide a different feeling. So, you can say that it basically makes you want to pay attention to the whole song. However, in the end, I decided to use simple loops from a piano and use the sound waves so it can have a relaxing-type of an outro. That said, this assignment has been quite challenging but it was also fantastic since it helped me think outside the box and it also made me produce a different type of style of music than what I would usually do.

Besides remixing, another thing that was required was to find an example of a song that contains a direct audio sample from another song. The song I decided to choose was "Kings & Queens" by Ava Max. She used a sample from another artist that is known as Bonnie Tyler with her song called "If you were a woman (and I was a man)"That said, you can tell the rhythm and sound are very similar. I never knew that this song was using a sample. The way how this sample is used is that Ava Max uses is it as a chorus and the rhythm, as well as sound, are still the same. Another thing to mention is that the audio sample is very powerful since it uses multiple vocals and the energy from it is great. However, with Bonnie Tyler, I feel like it does not sit well compared to Ava Max since it does not feel as strong or powerful but I understand that it is not like that since the song is very old, and technology was not advanced compared to today. With that being mentioned, this song caught me by surprise since I assumed the song was original. It also made me realize that people will use different audio samples and it creates a new product.
